During this period, I collaborated with my first lecturer and long-time mentor, Aly Peel, founder of Maiike. This work marked a clear shift in my design direction, moving toward a sustainability-focused practice grounded in local production.
Working with reclaimed and often damaged wools and cashmeres sourced from op shops, I assisted in the development and production of a series of handcrafted clothing, toys, and quilts. Each piece was created with a focus on material recovery, longevity, and thoughtful construction—transforming discarded textiles into refined, functional objects.
All works were designed and made on site in North Melbourne, reflecting a hands-on, small-batch approach to production and a commitment to conscious design.
